Both are 100% Solution Dyed Olefin loop pile carpets from Furnishing Centre, but they serve slightly different needs. Texture 1 (this product) uses Felt Backing, is 6-7mm thick at 1400 GSM — thicker, heavier, more comfortable underfoot, better for offices and hospitality. Texture 2 uses Action Backing, is 5.5mm thick at 1230 GSM — lighter, harder-wearing, better for pure commercial and heavy-traffic use. Choose Texture 1 when you want commercial durability with a touch more comfort; choose Texture 2 when pure durability and economy are the priority.

Loop pile is the industry-standard specification for office and commercial environments because the uncut loops interlock with each other, creating a much denser and more wear-resistant surface than cut pile. Rolling office chairs, heavy footfall, and moved furniture all cause cut pile to mat and crush quickly — loop pile resists all of this. Loop pile also hides footprints and vacuum tracks better than cut pile, keeping the floor looking professional between cleanings.

Yes — felt backing is entirely suitable for commercial installations, and in fact preferred in some contexts. It provides dimensional stability (like Action Backing), adds a cushioning layer that reduces underfoot fatigue for staff, and often eliminates the need for a separate underlay. The trade-off: felt-backed carpet is typically installed via tack-strip, while Action-backed commercial carpet can also be direct-glued for very heavy-use environments. Texture 1 is denser, more durable, and easier to maintain than residential plush cut pile — at the expense of the plush underfoot softness. If you want carpet in a formal living room, use a cut pile specification like Divine or Splendid. If you want carpet in a home office, family room, basement, or rental property, Texture 1's durability profile is much better suited — and it still feels substantial thanks to the 6-7mm pile and felt backing.

Loop pile carpets can occasionally catch a loop on a sharp heel, pet claw, or piece of furniture — this is normal and easily remedied. If a loop gets snagged, never pull it (that can cause unraveling). Instead, carefully clip the snagged loop flush with scissors. The surrounding loops are independent, so a clipped snag won't spread. This is standard practice for all loop pile carpets.

Vacuum weekly with any standard vacuum — loop pile handles aggressive beater bars without damage (unlike cut pile, which can fuzz). Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry white cloth; the Olefin fibre makes most spills easy to remove with water and mild detergent. Schedule professional hot-water extraction every 6-12 months for commercial installations, every 12-18 months for residential. Never rub aggressively at stains — work from the outside inward.

The Olefin fibre doesn't absorb moisture (so pet accidents can be blotted up before they set), doesn't harbour dust mites or allergens, and the dense loop construction hides paw prints and minor soiling between cleanings. Just remember to clip any snagged loops rather than pulling them.

Yes — solution-dyed means the pigment is added to the polymer before the fibre is spun, so the colour is integral to the fibre rather than applied to the surface.
